It is important that the FHP is aware of any underlying health issues so that they can tailor your care appropriately and safely to give the best outcome.

It is important that the FHP knows what medications you take so that they can deliver safe care and monitor any therapeutic treatments.

Some of us can live quite happily with certain conditions whilst others would seek treatment.
Your FHP will discuss your needs and wishes and work safely with you to achieve these - discussing individual options to inform your decisions.
Full general foot and neurovascular assessment

Your FHP will undertake a full assessment looking at the condition of your nails and skin, identifying any underlying causes for concern, infection, open wounds, and/or mechanical problems you may be experiencing.

This involves assessing sensation and blood flow to your lower limbs and feet and can identify problems such as those relating to diabetes, peripheral vascular disease and neurological conditions.
Early detection can help in the treatment of chronic conditions. Your FHP will always refer on if there is any cause for concern.
Treatment, advice & follow up plan.

Your FHP will deliver safe and evidence based care after undertaking steps 1 & 2 above. This ensures that the right treatment is delivered in a way that meets your needs and expectations.
Treatment includes any tapes, dressings or paddings that may be required at time of visit.

Your FHP is constantly updating knowledge in order to provide you with the most up to date advice.
They will always work in your best interest and this may include occasions where they do not have the necessary skill to treat you safely. In these instances they will refer you on or recommend another professional.

Your FHP will always give honest advice about future management of any conditions.
